Your Calling Matters

Devotional by Cheryl Hall-Laos

Why is it that the bigger the world’s problems get the more insignificant we feel our own personal influence is? This is a lie from hell...

Your circle of family and friends watches how you handle the trials of life. They listen to hear if your faith is still holding strong. They glean encouragement (even if they seldom say so) each time you calmly take a problem to God in prayer on their behalf.

Your private time of prayer each day? It reaches across the globe. It softens hearts to the gospel, it gives wisdom to those in power, and brings safety to individuals and nations alike. “But to as many as received Him, to them He gave power to be called the sons of God” (John 1:12). There is, indeed, a great power in prayer! And it’s so important in this spiritual battle that rages today.

God has placed unbelieving friends in all of our lives. Please know that your influence is designed by God as a bridge to Him. It’s so important! It’s not for nothing. Keep investing in their life. Chances are, you’re the only Christian friend they have.

Dear friends, you are so valuable! You’re a soldier in the Lord’s army. As things get darker, your role becomes more vital. May we know our purpose and live it out with boldness for His glory.
