Strange isn’t it, how this life slips by so fast! Most people will have, on average, 7 decades to experience life. Like pages in a short book, they flip by too soon.
But just when we feel the weight of the brevity of life, we open the Word of God and hear Him say that we are made in His Image - eternal! It’s almost like the splash of cold water that brings us to our senses. We don’t have just 70 years, or even 100, we have tens of thousands of years without end. Do we even begin to grasp this? If we did, would we live with more joy? More freedom? More peace? Probably so...
“Jesus said, I am the Resurrection and the Life. Whoever believes in Me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in Me shall never ever die. Do you believe this?”
(John 11:25,26)
“But whoever drinks of the water that I give him will never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.” (John 4:14)
Dear friends, the threat of death ending everything, is a lie from hell. This lie is causing so many to live in constant fear of everything - a virus, a riot, a fire, loss of income, loss of health... it’s all meant to cause crippling fear, and it is. We need to take on a godly perspective and choose life! “I(Jesus) lay before you Life and death... choose LIFE that you and your offspring may LIVE.”
(Deuteronomy 30:19)
A missionary to North Korea shared a story of a young man that heard the gospel for the first time. He was so eager to receive Christ that he shouted out his prayer to God (just to make sure he was heard). Upon asking Christ to be Lord of his life, the missionary told him that he now has eternal life - a life safe in Christ from now into eternity. The young man started to leap and shout for joy. “I’m eternal! No one can kill me! I’m safe in God! Praise His name, praise His holy name!” Over the months that followed, his joy led many more to Christ.
Oh, how we need to grasp this! We are immortal, dear ones. May this truth bring a new joy that fills your soul today.
