Despite what world leaders have planned, the most certain future event is the return of Christ. It is a guarantee, recorded in His name, to the Church and the world… “To the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace to you, and peace, from Him which is, and which was, and which is to come…” – (Revelation 1:4).
For 2000-years the Church has clung to this promise… “Behold, He is coming back with clouds; and every eye shall see Him, and they also which pierced Him: and all families of the earth shall wail because of Him. Even so. Amen.” And when the firstfruits of the Church are caught up into Heaven, the four Living Creatures thunder the news across Heaven’s Throne Room, praising the wondrous event, still calling His name… “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come”- (Rev. 4:8).
In the middle of the Great Tribulation, when the two witnesses are raised to life and ascend to Heaven with the full harvest of Tribulation saints, all Heaven unites again in thunderous praise… “We give You thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which is, and was, and is to come, because You have taken to Yourself your great power, and have reigned” – (Rev. 11:17).
But at the end of the Tribulation, when the last bowls of wrath are being poured out, an angel bursts forth in praise again. But notice the change in Jesus’ name… “You are righteous, O Lord, which is, and was, O Holy One, because You have judged them” – (Rev. 16:5). No longer will He be called “Who Is To Come” for He has returned to stay. “And the name of the city (Jerusalem) from that day forward shall be, Jehovah-Shammah: ‘The Lord Is There.’” – (Ezekiel 48:35).
No matter how sin-stained and distressing our world may seem today, Jesus is returning, and everything will change. Count on it.
Hallelujah!
