The patience of God has a limit. King Nebuchadnezzar, had learned this the hard way… “But when his heart became arrogant and hardened with pride, he was deposed from his royal throne and stripped of his glory.” God gave him the mind of an animal, even eating grass like the animals, until he was humbled enough to “acknowledge that the Most High God is sovereign over all kingdoms on earth and sets over them anyone He wishes. But you, Belshazzar, his son, have not humbled yourself, though you knew all this.” (Daniel 5)
Instead, Belshazzar had stolen from the temple, wine goblets, and used them for drunken parties. He and his friends praised the gods of silver, gold, bronze, iron, wood, and stone. His heart had become idolatrous, in spite of knowing the Truth from his father.
“You did not honor the God who holds in His hand your life and all your ways” (vs 23). Therefore, God sent a Hand to write on the wall, in front of all his many guests, “Mene, mene, tekel, parsin.” The meaning? God has numbered your days and brought your reign to an end. You have been weighed on the scales and found wanting. He has divided your kingdom between the Medes and Persians…That very night King Belshazzar was slain. (vs. 25-30)
There is a special judgment waiting for those that have seen the Hand of Almighty God and all His blessings, firsthand, only to intentionally snub them, and exalt themselves above God. Our own governments are doing this. They have witnessed the great blessing bestowed on our countries that were founded on Christian principles. Now, they pretend they haven’t seen the blessing of God, and work tirelessly to implement a godless way of life, void of godly standards, and an intentional blurring of the lines between right and wrong, confusing the masses.
God hasn’t changed, nor have His standards; He won’t be mocked. He has weighed our governments on the scales and declared them deficient. His judgment is coming and it is righteous and just, even necessary, as our nations are destroying their own. For God’s children, He will “Prepare a way of escape that they will be able to bear it” (1 Corinthians 10:13). He is coming!
