Untouchable Wealth

Devotional by Cheryl Hall-Laos

Isaiah prophesied of an “Inheritor that will spring forth out of Jacob (Israel)” … “And I will bring forth a seed out of Jacob, and out of Judah an Inheritor of My mountains, and My elect shall inherit it, and My servants shall dwell there.” (Isaiah 65:9)

Friends, do we really comprehend what it is to be joint heirs with Christ? Upon receiving Him as Lord and Savior, we became part of the family of God, and for eternity His great love towards us will be revealed to us, not for a mere 1000 years, but for the ages and ages to come (Ephesians 2:7). It’s mind blowing to really try to capture what that all means! It’s been said by preachers of old, that when Jesus moved into our hearts, He brought with Him all that He had and was overjoyed to now share His riches with us forever.

“Now if we are His children, then we are heirs, heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in His sufferings in order that we may also share in His glory.” (Romans 8:17)

This precious truth should change the way we view possessions and any goal tethered to money. We are co-heirs with Christ over all that has been created in heaven and earth, and into the starry galaxies. When Jesus spoke to His followers and said, “Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth” (Matthew 5:5). He was reminding them that their present financial status and earthly possessions are nothing in comparison to the riches we have in Him.

What a thrill for Jesus to gift to His bride His beautiful, artistic, breath-taking creation - Earth. And no need to worry about the present evildoers bent on destroying this earth. Jesus has promised us that this is a “World without end, amen and amen!” (Ephesians 3:21)
