Troubled Waters

Devotional by Cheryl Hall-Laos

“And the angel said to me (John), The waters that you saw where the prostitute is seated, are peoples and multitudes and nations and languages” (Revelation 17:15). Out of these waters (nations of the earth) a beast system rises that affects the whole world; an alliance of ten entities (vs 16), enjoining their powers to do the unthinkable - “handing over their royal power to the Beast, until the Words of God are fulfilled.” (vs 17)

Much speculation has been made about who these ten entities are, but their purpose is clear - to support the agenda of the antichrist. As we watch governments aligning (Turkey, Iran, Russia), as foretold in Ezekiel 38, as well as new monarchs rise into power, the ten entities of power will become clearer by the day.

The waters of our world are churning and troubled. Evil currents are stirring up strife, BUT into this menacing scene the Spirit of God that first hovered above the waters of creation (Genesis 1:2), continues to intercede and draw men to God. He will continue to restrain the advancements of evil until our precious Lord comes and takes us out of these troubled seas.

“But late that night, the disciples were alone in their boat in the middle of the lake… Jesus saw they were in serious trouble, rowing hard and struggling against the wind and waves. At about 3 AM Jesus came to them walking upon the water… Jesus said, “Fear not, take courage, I am here!” (Mark 6:50, 51)

Dear friends, Jesus sees the storms we’re in. He won’t leave us alone to be destroyed by the beasts of the sea that seek to destroy all that isn’t supporting their agenda. He will come to us, not in still waters, but as the water churns. May we be encouraged to ride out these storms with courage - and may we hear His words… “Fear not, I am here;” it changes everything.
