“You were once dead in trespasses and sins… BUT God, who is rich in mercy, through His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in sins, has made-us-alive-together with Christ (by grace you are saved!), and has raised-us-up-together, and seated-us-together in heavenly places (spiritual realm) in Christ Jesus: that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us through Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 2:1-7).
Can you image the thoughts of Joseph’s brothers when they realized he was alive and Vice-Pharaoh over all Egypt? They had no idea that when they rejected him, and sold him into slavery, it was for his exaltation to save them, all Africa, and the Middle East.
Nor did they consider that when Joseph was exalted over all Egypt, they would also be exalted to honor because of their relationship with him. Having been reconciled and forgiven, they were “made-alive-together, raised-up together, and seated-together” in places of highest authority with him. Whatever their own previous plans were, they were scrapped for far greater plans with Joseph.
This is the picture that is ours through salvation in Christ… “If (Since!) you are risen with Christ, seek those things which are Above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your affections (thoughts) on things above, not on things of the earth. For you died (to self and the world), and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall you also appear with Him in glory” – (Colossians 3:1-4).
One day soon our Lord will return in Majesty and every knee will bow – and we will take our place by His side to be “forever with the Lord.” Count on it.
