Time Is Short

Devotional by Cheryl Hall-Laos

The spiritual realm has an awareness to it that seems to put many Believers to shame. The realm of darkness is fully aware of this late hour in which we live. It prepares for each generation as though it is the last. Half of the church, on the other hand, is asleep. Only five of the ten virgins kept their oil lamps lit and waited expectantly for their Master, while the others stopped looking and went to bed. A total lack of awareness…

It was prophesied that when Jesus returns that it would be like in the days of Noah, “People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building, marrying and giving in marriage,” (Luke 17:28), fully ignoring the warnings of Noah that judgment was coming. They chose to create their own never-ending reality, their own utopia, rather than prepare for the coming judgment. Oh, how like today!

“Therefore rejoice, you heavens, and you who dwell in them (those already in Heaven). But woe to the earth and the sea (those still on earth), because the Devil has gone down to you! He is filled with fury because he knows that his time is short” (Revelation 12:12). We know this Scripture is in future tense, during the tribulation period, but take note of the wrath of Satan, and his urgency to deliver evil! We can see it and feel it everywhere, even now.

We are warned by Scripture to keep in mind that, “The end of all things is near. Therefore, be alert and sober (serious) minded, that you may be earnest and disciplined in your prayers.” (1 Peter 4:7)

No one wants to hear that this life is subject to Satan’s wrath, and that his desire is for our death and destruction, but it is the truth. Our counter-message is one of great Victory in Christ. Even though Satan rages war against all the earth, we have been saved from his grip, to eternal life in Heaven. Any trial here is the most hell we will ever know. We are saved! We are (already in Christ’s mind) seated with Him in the Heavenly realm (Ephesians 2:6). And He is coming soon!

May we use this short time left on this earth to proclaim His deliverance from evil, death, hell, and hopelessness. We are not asleep, but fully awake, lamps lit, eyes to the sky, and hearts yearning to see our Savior. Time is short…
