God has plans for our lives and Satan does, too. The greater the threat we are to the darkness, the greater the spiritual warfare will be. But God specializes in thwarting godless agendas… “What Satan intends for evil God turns it for good.” (Genesis 50:20)
Daniel, was a captive in Babylon, a brilliant man who had gained the respect of the leaders. Others were jealous and tried to frame him by making prayer a crime - even silent prayer in one’s own home! Daniel would never agree to stop his prayers, even continuing to pray by his window three times a day where he could be seen.
The evil plot had “seemingly” worked! Daniel was arrested and thrown into the hungry lions’ den. But morning came and not one lion had harmed him, for God had “sent an angel to shut the lion’s mouths.” Those that set him up were then thrown into the lions’ den to their demise and the king accepted that the God of Daniel was the real and living God.
“The Lord foils the plans of the nations; He thwarts the purposes of the peoples. But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of His heart through all generations.” (Psalm 33:10,11)
Our nations are so intent on making a world into their own kingdom. Scotland just made praying silently a crime and the UK is soon to follow. Our politicians are vying for our support as each promises to lead us forward in a “better way,” but God’s plans are so much bigger than the next four years; His plans reach far into eternity.
If the evil that is planned for our nations is thwarted by God, He will give us more time to declare to the world that His ways and His purposes are the real salvation everyone is longing for. And it is offered freely to each generation. What a gift!
