“Biggest Fail” videos circulate on social media with cars, freight trucks, bicycles, cooking, sports… you name it. Some are funny, others are just hard to watch. In many of them, you can see it coming, it’s no surprise.
This is how it is watching global politics. God has said, “A false witness shall not go unpunished, and he that speaks lies shall not escape” (Proverbs 19:5) … “There is nothing secret that shall not be fully exposed; neither anything hidden, that shall not be made public (Luke 8:17) … “Those who sow iniquity shall reap futility (Proverbs 22:8). We’re watching it all unfold with seeming prosperity, but with all God’s warnings, prepare for the epic fail.
The prophet Habakkuk put it bluntly… “Woe to him who builds a town with blood and establishes a city by lawlessness! Behold, is it not of the Lord of Armies that these people toil only for fire (judgment)? and these people weary themselves only for futility? For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea” (Habakkuk 2:12-14).
It does our hearts good to note all the promises God has given that evil will not win. It’s the guarantee of the empty Cross that Jesus will judge this world in righteousness. Believers are not to be in a state of panic-stricken depression at the seeming progress of the wicked, but to be in a state of wincing anticipation... “Wait for it!” says the Bible. “Watch to the end!” we are encouraged. We know how it ends… “Suddenly…”
