The Wounded Lion …

Every year, the country of Tanzania sees 100 deaths from lion killings. But, one night, a farmer survived! He came rushing into his house, bleeding and torn up by a lion, but stated he was able to strike it with his spear before it retreated. The next morning, he went back to the attack site, with several armed men, to look for the wounded lion, but very little blood was seen, and they feared it was still alive and more dangerous than ever. The village was put on high alert.

Oh, how this story reminded me of satan! “Be sober-minded, be watchful, for your enemy, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” - (1 Peter 5:8)

Genesis 3:15 foretells of an attack he would make on Jesus one day, and Jesus would strike him back... Also a warning was given regarding our children... After satan had deceived Eve, God said to him, “I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; He (Jesus) shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel (the cross).

Scripture is true! We see that satan is continually pursuing the youth. Enticingly, he draws them away, ever-so-slowly, whispering to them that they deserve what others have, even if they didn’t work for it. Pride, arrogance, and disrespect become their character, and they soon resemble their master, vicious and destructive. All we have to do is look at the young mobs burning our cities and looting our stores; they were once young and innocent. The enemy has succeeded.

The last part of vs. 15 states, “He (Jesus) shall bruise your (satan’s) head, and you (satan) shall bruise His (Jesus’s) heel.” This verse is filled with hope! For a bruised head is a mortal wound, even if the injured one takes a while to die, where as, a heel wound, does not lead to permanent death (the cross). Jesus bled and died but rose to conquer death 3 days later, but Satan’s head is still wounded, and he knows his time is short.

The lion in Tanzania was seen again, many times, vicious, demented, and would often kill livestock, or people, but never eat it. He was nicknamed “The Tormentor.” There is a tormentor roaming our world! His evil is brazen and demonic. But take heart, dear ones, for Jesus has told us that his days are numbered. In the meantime, pray for hearts to come to Jesus before they are drawn away, or destroyed.
