I’ve been given many beautiful, thoughtful, and even costly gifts in my life. But none of them compare to the gifts of “people” with which the Lord has enriched my life. How much more when it comes to Jesus!
Gifts are something someone lacks, something to benefit another, and bring joy. This makes the people the Lord has put in our lives even more meaningful, and the Gift of Christ the Crown! To a dying people God gives the Gift of Life… “For the wages of sin is death, but the Gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” And this Gift is just the beginning. Receive Him, pull off the ribbons, slowly open all that He came to give us, and what do we find? …
He pours out the “Gift of the Holy Spirit”, filling our lives with a multitude of graces. To a powerless people, He gives “the Gift of Righteousness” giving us strength against evil so that we might “reign in life.” That Gift opens further, and priceless gems of Christlike character begin to adorn our attitudes, speech, and actions. Other gifts are fitted uniquely into our lives for service, making YOU the gift to your local Church, “ministering your gift to others, as good stewards of the multi-faceted grace of God” and so that each local Church “comes behind in no gift waiting for the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
But it doesn’t end there. Each day we serve Christ, He promises to supply “all you need according to His riches in glory”, and that, “every good gift and every perfect gift (in timing and practicality) is from Above and comes down from the Father of Lights.” We cannot exhaust the GIFT! “He who spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up (as a sacrifice) for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?” – (Romans 8:32)
“Thanks be unto God for His indescribable GIFT!”
