When Balak, the king of Moab, saw “all that Israel had done to the Amorites,” he hired a false prophet, named Balaam, to curse them. Balaam wanted the money for he “loved the wages of unrighteousness,” and the praises of men, as all false prophets do (2 Peter 2:15, Jude 1:11).
Four times Balaam tried to curse Israel. Four times Balak took him to different locations to see Israel in a “different light.” Four times God overruled and poured blessings out of Balaam’s mouth, much to Balak’s fury… “I have received commandment to bless, and He has blessed, and I cannot reverse it. He has not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither has He seen perverseness in Israel: Jehovah His God is with him, and the shout of a King is among them” (Numbers 23:20,21).
Here is where we find the prophecy of the star… “There shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Scepter shall rise out of Israel.” This is where God foretold Israel’s future, causing Balaam to exclaim… “Let me die the death of the righteous and let my last end be like his! Blessed is the one who blesses you, and cursed is the one who curses you!”
Today we have many antisemites who want you to look at Israel from different vantage points until you curse them. But God knows the future and sees their salvation is coming. Not only will He never cast off Israel, but the covenant of salvation that Christians claim to rejoice in today is the same Covenant “I will make with the house of Israel” (Jeremiah 31:31-40).
Don’t let the Balaam’s of our day waste your time and energy. God has spoken that “All Israel shall be saved (Romans 11:26). And to those who argue it’s a “different Israel”, God says it’s the same people He made the first Covenant with at Mt. Sinai.
True Christians side with God’s Word on this issue. The Star has already shined; and now His Scepter and reign are sure. Hallelujah. The King is coming!
