C.S. Lewis, referred, so appropriately, to this world as the shadowlands. Every single joy here is merely a shadow of a far greater joy that will be had in Heaven. The greatest love story here is only a fraction of a reflection of God’s great love for this world. How about our peace? Even the best drafted peace plan here on earth is a mere wisp of the grand Divine peace of God that will one day rule the world.
“Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then (in Heaven) we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then (in Heaven) I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.” (1 Corinthians 13:12)
Friends, this life’s heartaches and struggles are not permitted into the Heavenly realm. They are not a shadow of worse things to come. Their time is limited. With sin came the curse/fall that has made life riddled with pain. But praise God, there comes a time when this curse is brought to an end. “No longer will there be any more curse for the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and His servants will serve Him.” (Revelation 22:3)
What a joy to know that only that which is good, and of God, will continue into eternity. “I know that whatever God does - it shall be forever...” (Ecclesiastes 3:14)
Friends, our trials, though they be great, are only temporary. But soon our joy will finally be made full. And our ability to love unguarded will come to fruition. Oh, what a blessing it will be to rise out of this valley, past the shadows, into His glorious Light.
