“Once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the Ark was being prepared, in which few, that is, eight souls were saved through water.” – (1 Peter 3:29).
It’s hard to imagine there was a time the whole earth was so corrupt that only eight people believed the Lord. But that’s the fact of history and our DNA bears witness. All people groups today can be reduced to eight sets of DNA.
Paul preached this truth from Mars Hill in Athens… “God has made from one bloodline all nations of humanity which dwell on the face of the earth, and has determined their times beforehand, and the borders of their habitations; that they should seek the Lord, if perhaps they might reach out to feel for Him, and find Him, for He is not far from every one of us.” – (Acts 17:26,27).
From those eight, and a few disciples, the Gospel of Christ has encircled a perishing world with the invitation of forgiveness and everlasting life… “But as many as receive Him, to them He gave the power to become the children of God, even to those who believe on His name” (John 1:12).
Revelation shows us how many responded. For there, around the Throne, are myriads upon myriads of people… “and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands” (Revelation 5:11).
Then we look again and out of the Great Tribulation comes… “A great multitude, which no one could number, from all nations, tribes, people, and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb” (Revelation 7:9).
Don’t ever believe we’re the poor few. A tsunami of people and praise is growing and one day we’ll stand together as “the many” that Christ has won for eternal glory.
