When the angel, Gabriel, appeared to young Mary, he delivered a message that would forever change the course of history…God was becoming man! Clothing Himself in human flesh, He would become the ‘Son of Man’ spoken of in Daniel (500 years prior)… “I, Daniel, saw in the night visions, and behold, with the clouds of Heaven there came one like a Son of Man, and He came to the Ancient of Days (God the Father), and was presented before Him. And to Him was given an everlasting dominion, and glory, and a Kingdom that will never be destroyed” - (Daniel 7:13, 14).
Gabriel stated much of the same… "You shall bear a Son and you shall call His name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most high. And the Lord God will give to Him the throne of His father David, and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His Kingdom there will be no end… for nothing will be impossible with God.”
Friends, we have a rear-view panoramic view of Christ’s coming foretold, and His coming birth announcement by Gabriel, as well as His actual birth in Bethlehem. We also learned of Jesus’ prophetic words to Pilate, in John 18:36: “My Kingdom is not of this world…” But John the Revelator gave us a peek into His future Kingdom… "And the seventh angel sounded (his trumpet), and there were loud voices in Heaven saying, ‘The kingdoms of this world are become the Kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign for ever and ever!’” Just as Gabriel and Daniel said!
Wonder of wonders! God became man! He saw fit to not only include a young, poor, Jewish girl in His Divine plan, but you and me! We get to be part of His Kingdom, and it never ends! And one day soon, all this world’s corrupt kingdoms will be ruled in righteousness by our great King of kings, and we shall reign with Him.
When the impossible becomes possible, our hearts can’t help but echo Mary’s sweet words of worship…
