“And the Lord shall guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and make strong your bones: and you shall be like a watered garden, and like a fountain of water, whose waters never fail.” – (Isaiah 58:11)
No matter how “dry” our circumstances may be outwardly, this is the promise of God to us through His Word. The Hebrew word “Torah” is from a root word “yara” which means, “to flow as water, to rain” and therefore “to teach; point out; instruct.” God’s Word waters our souls, strengthening us, and making us fruitful in His purposes… and making your life a source of spiritual refreshment to others.
The Lord reminds us… “My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts (plans) higher than your thoughts (plans). For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and returns not there again, but waters the earth, and makes it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: so shall My Word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the one to which I send it.” – (Isaiah 55:8-11)
If I forget to water my garden, it withers quickly. How much more our souls in this dry and dusty world! To look into God’s Word and see His power toward us today, and His plans for us to come, is to carry a joy within that nothing can take away… “And their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all.” (Jeremiah 31:12).
Eden was beautiful because Jesus walked there and created the beauty. The soul in which He dwells by His Spirit will be the same. Are you well-watered today?
