The End Of All Things

“But the end of all things is at hand; be sober therefore and watch with prayer. And above all, have fervent love among yourselves”– 1 Peter 4:7,8

We are called many things in the Bible. As “strangers and pilgrims” the end for us means reaching Home at last. We are called “the Bride of Christ,” and that means the long-awaited wedding day is near.  We’re called ‘living stones’ of a spiritual Temple, so ‘the end’ means the building project is close to completion.

We are called a “Royal Priesthood” and that means our training and consecration days are nearly over so we can begin the duties we read of in Revelation. As “Little Children” our days of immaturity, growth, and education, are almost over. The graduation ceremony into our promised “sonship” is almost here. As Firstfruits, we know the “precious fruit” of the earth is fully ripe and our Excellent Gardener is preparing for the harvest.

But there are also other things that will end. “O let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end but establish the just” is our hearts prayer (Psalm 7:9). And it will. The reign of corruptible man over the earth will be done and the righteous reign of Christ, on the Throne of David, will be ushered in and “of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end” (Isaiah 9:7).

Faith will end because Christ will be seen by all. Hope will end for we will be with Him forever. But the love we have for Christ, and love for one another, will never end. It will only grow deeper, richer, and sweeter.

The end of all things, as we know them, is to only the beginning of all the ‘good things to come.’ Hallelujah.
