All over the world, Believers are praying, “Come, Lord Jesus.” Nor is it just from our own hearts, but the urgent prayer of the Spirit of God within us… “The Spirit and the Bride say, ‘Come!’”
The Bible records the prayers of God’s people during these days in Isaiah… “With my soul have I desired You in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek You early: for when Your laws are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.” Our hearts yearn for Christ, the Prince of Peace who will establish “right” laws the whole world over, bringing a rest from evil to nations desiring peace, which is described as “glorious.”
This prayer continues with a reality check… “Let favour be shown to the wicked, yet he will not learn righteousness: in the land of uprightness, he will continue to deal unjustly and will not behold the majesty of the Lord.” Those who spurn the freedoms only found in Christian lands, who refuse to see these liberties come only from the excellent qualities of Christ, do not need more grace. They need judgment.
So they pray for Christ’s return… “Lord, when Your hand is lifted up (Cross), they will not see; but they shall see (Christ’s return) and be ashamed for their envy at the people.” Those refusing to see Jesus as the Lamb shall see Him as the Lion of Judah. This is foretold in two other places in Scripture… “Behold, He returns with clouds, and every eye shall see Him, and they also who pierced Him (Israel), and ALL tribes of the earth shall wail because of Him.” (Revelation 1:7, Zechariah 12:10). This is where Israel looks upon Him, and “all Israel shall be saved.” This is where, “many nations shall be turned to the Lord in that day.” But some will remain in stubborn rebellion and be destroyed.
The prayer ends in certainty… “Yes, the fire of Your enemies shall devour themselves. Lord, You will ordain peace for us.” (Isaiah 26:9-12). And He will.
“Come, Lord Jesus. Amen.”
