The Coming Day

“Be wise now therefore, O ye kings; be instructed, ye judges of the earth. Serve the LORD with fear and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and ye perish from the way, when His wrath is kindled in a little while. Blessed are all they who put their trust in Him.” – (Psalm 2:10-12)

We live in a world that considers justice too extreme. The criminal has “rights” and if we could only see things from their viewpoint, we’d realize they were “justified” in what they did. Their evil is really “good,” and those who desire “justice, truth, and righteousness,” are the evil ones.

Our world will reel when this grace period ends and Jesus returns in wrath. The Scriptures, which warn of coming justice, will come to pass just as surely as His days of grace did. Christ’s resurrection is God’s guarantee that justice is coming… “I will execute vengeance in anger and fury upon the nations, such as they have not heard” (Micah 5:15).

The attitude towards God’s Day of Wrath is usually looked upon with smirking contempt… “It is not near.” Yet God says it is both near and sudden… “Behold the Day of the LORD comes, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and He shall destroy the sinners out of it.” God Himself speaks… “And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their lawlessness; I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease and will abase the haughtiness of the terrorist.” (Isaiah 13:6-11).

Praise God for His amazing grace, offering forgiveness through the Cross of Christ to the world before that Day. But make no mistake, grace spurned brings greater guilt and greater wrath.

That Day is near.
