Israel is God’s chosen people and His love and commitment to them has never wavered. It is true, Israel has walked away from God multiple times, but His promises to them are not dependent on their faithfulness, but His.
“Behold, He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade at your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in, from this time forth and even forever more” (Psalm 121:4-8).
God promises three times in the above verse to preserve Israel, but He also has promises for those that go AGAINST Israel… “I (God) will bless those that bless you and curse those that curse you” (Genesis 12:2). To rise up against Israel is a serious matter! Every group that ever has, no longer exists.
It’s a sobering thought to hear God say that “Whatever you have done to the least of these (a name for the Jews), you have done it unto Me” (Matthew 25:40). Any attack against His chosen people is an attack on God, Himself. These days will soon reveal that this war is the beginning of the Ezekiel 38 and 39 war. How fast it escalates, only God knows, but this conflict, and the players, are falling into place just as Scripture described.
What is our role? To “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. May those who love You be secure (and prosperous)” (Psalm 122:6). There is only One way to truly be eternally secure and prosperous, and that is in receiving Christ as Savior. Pray that the veil of unbelief that has hidden Christ from their sight would be lifted, and that they would call out to Him as Lord.
May we join with the Apostle Paul in prayer for their Salvation. (See verse below…)
