When the pressures of life feel like too much, too heavy, or too overwhelming, we need a Godly perspective.
When Job struggled to make sense of all the hardships that had befallen him, God helped him. He knew grief far greater than any of us ever will, losing his children, his property, his health, and then to top it off, his friends accuse him of “bringing this on himself,” through hidden sins. Job’s heart was gripped with the injustice of life and pleads his innocence before God.
God asks him some important questions. “Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth?” “Have you ever commanded the morning light to shine?” “Can you lead out a constellation in its season?” The awesomeness of God’s wisdom, power and glory humbled Job and gave him the much needed perspective that he needed. His God is above all trials, eternal in all His plans, and forever merciful towards His creation. He is loving and compassionate, but doesn’t hide us from trials, as He longs for us to see Him with such awe that we fear nothing!
Grief isn’t the end of our story, nor is loss of earthly possessions or health, BUT that we are children of the Most High and are His forever and ever. All that is lost here is found in Heaven, “For the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” (Romans 8:18)
May we look past our trials to our great God and stand in awe!
