Snipping The Ties

Devotional by Cheryl Hall-Laos

“Oh soul are you weary and troubled No light in the darkness you see There’s light for a look at the Savior And life more abundant and free… Turn your eyes upon Jesus Look full in His wonderful face And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, In the light of His glory and grace.” It’s been said that the one that is content in Christ, will naturally long for Heaven, but the one who loves this world, will find themselves discontent. The apostle Paul wrote to the church at Philippi and reminded them of a foundational truth for a Believer…

“For I have told you often before, but I say it again with tears in my eyes, that there are many whose conduct shows that they are enemies of the cross of Christ. They are headed for destruction. Their god is their appetite, they brag about shameful things, and they think only about this life here on earth. But we are citizens of Heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for Him to return as our Savior.” (Philippians 3:18-20) Friends, if you are finding that life has no sparkle, you have seen this world correctly. This is a world in love with sin and headed for trouble. “The wages of sin is death,” and those that love it are (as Paul said) headed for destruction. May we happily snip any ties to this dying world and lift our heads to Heaven. Even the best moments we’ve had on this earth cannot begin to compare with the joys that await us. What a joy to be a citizen of Heaven!
