“I charge you before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His Kingdom, preach the Word; be instantly ready…” – (2 Timothy 4:1,2)
Noah had been building the Ark with his sons for 120 years with such evil surrounding him that extinction by God’s wrath was only a short time away. The Bible tells us he was a preacher of righteousness, and that while he built, he preached.
Finally the Lord said to Noah, “Come, you and all your household into the Ark; for I have seen you as righteous before Me in this generation… for yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth 40 days and 40 nights; and every living substance that I have made I will destroy from off the face of the earth.” – (Genesis 7:1,4).
Noah and his family entered the Ark on Cheshvan 10 (next Wednesday, Oct 25) by our calendar, yet the depths weren’t broken up and the rains didn’t come until the 17th day. This ought to comfort us. For just as we see the ships and planes over Israel removing citizens before the big war breaks out, God will remove His citizens of Heaven, safely, in time, before His judgment falls.
Like Noah, our mission is to keep preaching the Gospel and building up His people, until that Trumpet blast of our transfer comes… “And this Gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness to all nations, and then shall the end (of the age) come” (Matthew 24:14).
The Gospel is our urgent pointing to the Refuge of the Cross, where pardon and cleansing from this world’s evil is found; where new life, eternal good, and exemption from coming wrath is assured all who enter the Door of Eternal Safety in Christ.
Maranatha.
