Shaken Up

Devotional by Chery Hall-Laos

Jesus warned us of a time when “everything that can be shaken WILL be shaken,” and we’re watching it in real time. What does “shaken” mean? It’s the Greek word “Saleuo,” meaning to “cast down from one’s secure and happy state, to agitate, disturb, totter.”

Dr. David Jeremiah was sharing this last week, that everything in our world right now is being shaken: our security, safety, economy, our banks, our governments, our education system, our healthcare, our identities, our families, our military… it goes on and on. But take note that Jesus told us to watch for this…

“See to it that you do not refuse Him who speaks. If they did not escape when they refused Him, who warned them on earth, how much less will we, if we turn away from Him who warns us from Heaven? When God spoke from Mt. Sanai, His voice shook the earth, but now He makes another promise - ONCE AGAIN I will shake not only the earth, but the Heavens also. This means that all created things will be shaken and removed so that ONLY the unshakable things will remain.” (Hebrews 12:25-27)

The earth is trembling under God’s hand, and impending judgment, and the only things that will endure this spiritual earthquake are the things of God - The Pillar of our faith, the Word of God and His promises, our Savior, our mighty Corner Stone, and every single prophecy and promise in the Word will triumph victoriously.

What a comfort that we can hold dear to our hearts, that “Everything God does will endure forever.” (Ecclesiastes 3:14). Our faith, our families, our relationships, and ultimately, our love for God, will last into eternity, because they are OF God, designed by Him, gifted to us, that we may walk, with great joy in our hearts, honorably before Him, toward Eternity.

Remember friends, we will never go through this again, because the Kingdom He is giving us cannot be shaken. Hallelujah!
