“A week later His disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” Then He said to Thomas, “Put your finger here, see My hands. Reach out your hand and put it into My side. Stop doubting and believe.” Thomas said to Him, “My Lord and my God!” (John 20:26-28)
It’s not surprising that even in Christ’s resurrected body, that He chose to keep His scars of love as a reminder to us all of the price that was paid for our redemption. For eternity, we will be able to hold His hand in ours and touch His scar; trace the rips on His forehead once gouged by thorns, and know these scars are Holy and beautiful - for us, all while we stand and live in glorified, perfect, scar-free bodies. “He was wounded for our transgressions and pierced for our iniquities…” and He will bear these wounds as a symbol of His commitment to His bride, forever.
How blessed we are to have a Savior who suffered and died, that we might live; and who was broken that we may be made whole. This is True Love!
“The only scars in Heaven, won’t belong to me or you,
There’ll be no such thing as broken, and all the old will be made new,
And the thought that makes me smile now, even as the tears fall down,
Is that the only scars in Heaven, are in the Hands that hold you now.”
