Investors are announcing that gold and silver are selling like hotcakes. Even Costco has begun selling one-ounce, 24-karat gold bars, and silver coins. People are being encouraged to invest in gold and silver, "bringing peace of mind by having a safe commodity for an uncertain economic future." But the Bible says differently… “Will you set your eyes upon that which is nothing? For riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven” (Proverbs 23:5).
The Bible shows us how the godless world system called “Babylon,” whose confidence and security is in her riches, will end… “The kings of earth shall bewail her, saying ‘In one hour your judgment is come!’ … and the merchants of earth shall weep and mourn over her, saying, ‘In one hour such great riches are come to nothing!’ … and every shipmaster and all who trade by sea shall cry, ‘In one hour she is made desolate!’” (Revelation 18)
No one who looks to things of earth will find the security their hearts long for. Only in Christ are we offered eternal safety… “My sheep hear My voice (His Word), and I know them, and they follow Me: and I give to them eternal life, and they shall never perish, neither shall anyone pluck them out of My hand. My Father, who gave them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to pluck them out of My Father’s hand. I and My Father are One” (John 10:27-30).
Jesus left us His peace because we are Trinity-Secured in Him. Sealed forever by His indwelling Spirit, held in His hand, whose hand is cupped within the Father’s hand… there is no Security like this! Peace can flood our hearts because we know our safety is sure in Christ - today, next week, forever.
