Rachel Weeping

God gave Jeremiah a glimpse into Israel’s future before they went into captivity, to assure them His plans for them would not be thwarted.

“Hear the word of the Lord, all you nations, and declare it in the isles far off, and say: He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd does his flock… therefore, they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of the Lord… their soul shall be as a watered garden, and they shall not sorrow any more at all” (Jeremiah 31).

Then suddenly, in the middle of all the good news, the prophecy is interrupted… “A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rachel weeping for her children refused to be comforted, because they are alive no longer. Yet the Lord says, ‘Refrain your voice from weeping and your eyes from tears: for your work shall be rewarded, and they shall come again from the land of the enemy (death). And there is hope in your end, says the Lord, that your children shall come again to their own border.”

This prophecy was quoted as fulfilled when the babies of Bethlehem were martyred by Herod, in his effort to kill Jesus. Yet, Jesus says, “They’re with Me, and I’m bringing them back when I return.”

Because Jesus walked this earth, defeated sin and death, and rose again, those children so maliciously murdered by satanic hatred, are alive and returning. Because Jesus lives, this evil shall find its doom in the flames of everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his coworkers. And because Jesus lives, there is everlasting hope in the end of every individual, and nation, who puts their trust in Him.

Maranatha! Jesus is returning soon!
