“The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. You shall keep them, O Lord, you shall preserve them from this generation for ever. The wicked walk on every side when the vilest men are exalted.” – (Psalm 12:6-8).
How wonderful it is to rely on God’s unfailing Word in this time of evil. The testimony of the great military commander Joshua was… “There has not failed any good thing which the Lord has spoken to the house of Israel; all has come to pass” (Joshua 21:45). Years later, the testimony of Solomon was the same… “Blessed be the Lord, who has given rest to His people Israel, according to all that He has promised: there has not failed one word of all His good promise, which He promised by the hand of Moses His servant” (1 Kings 8:56).
Even in days of distress, the prophet Isaiah called the people to look at the stars to consider God’s power to keep His Word… “Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who has created these, who brings out their host (constellations) by number: he calls them all by their names by the greatness of His might, for He is strong in power; not one fails to keep rank” (Isaiah 40:26).
Jesus said, “Do not think I’ve come to destroy the Law and the Prophets (Old Testament), I have not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For verily (with absolute certainty) I say to you: Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no way pass from the Law, till everything is fulfilled” (Matthew 5:17,18).
Not only is God’s Word pure, but it is also preserved, and powerful. We can plant our feet upon every word and find stability, safety, and light, for our day. Ignore what “they say.” God has spoken.
