Persuaded

Devotional by Cheryl Hall-Laos

Just as the mob was planning and plotting the crucifixion of Jesus, they were offered an alternative… “As the crowd gathered before Pilate’s house that morning, he asked them, “Which one do you want me to release to you, Barabbas, or Jesus who is called the Messiah?” For he knew very well that it was out of envy that the religious leaders had arrested Him… meanwhile, the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas to be released and to have Jesus be put to death.” (Matthew 27:17-20)

Isn’t it amazing the amount of evil perpetrated on society by our leaders? Some things never change, but long before Jesus left the glories of Heaven to come to this earth, He knew that these leaders (priests of all things!) would call for His death. He also knew that Judas would betray Him and still chose him as one of the twelve. Perhaps even their corrupt agendas were woven into the fabric of His divine plan.

Isn’t it the world’s greatest act of love, that He allowed those who were being persuaded to betray Him and crucify Him, to have their way? All while He was in process of making a way to redeem them unto Himself, if only they would turn from their evil ways, and believe. It’s such a selfless love!

Friends, we must keep our eyes fixed on Jesus during these dark days. He doesn’t want us to be shocked at the orchestrated persuasion taking place in our countries. It’s all part of the plan that brings in the new world order and the rule of the antichrist. May we be persuaded in what really matters… that God is in control, that He loves us and will make a way for us, and that He’s coming soon! And before long, all that is evil and corrupt will stand before Him as their Righteous Judge. Things will be handled justly. That’s a guarantee! Let’s just stay focused on Him. Let not your heart be troubled.
