The Garden of Eden was the first paradise here on earth. Sin had not yet entered the world and all of creation was in perfect beauty and harmony. No thorns or venomous creatures existed then. Fellowship with God was face-to-face as they walked in the garden. What more could be desired! Life was perfect! We know the story… Satan deceived Eve and sin entered the world. Shame was now felt as Adam and Eve hurried to cover themselves. Fellowship was broken with God as they had disobeyed His only command. Thorns overtook the garden and angels blocked the entrance into it. There was no returning to Eden now. Paradise was lost. Not unlike the Tower of Babel, people are still trying to find their own “paradise.” They build their own empires… they strive to surround themselves with the best and most beautiful environment the world has to offer, but it never lasts; fires destroy their paradise on earth and their hearts are crushed. Could it be that God is calling us all to look to Him for our coming paradise? It’s not here. “The thief on the cross said to Jesus, “Remember me when You come into Your kingdom.’ Jesus replied to the thief, ‘Truly I tell you, today you will be with Me in paradise (Luke 23:43).’” This same statement is true for every one of us that have trusted Christ as our Savior. Paradise awaits! And just think how glorious it must be if our earthly paradises are in a fallen state, and yet so beautiful. Friends, lift your eyes up to Heaven. All that is Right and Just and Beautiful, is there. This world is passing away and it’s grievous to watch, but the Lover of your soul has “gone to prepare a place where rust and moths cannot destroy.” “In His Father’s house are many mansions,” and one of them is prepared specifically for you. Not long now, dear ones, and our Homesickness will be exchanged for Paradise.
