Joseph was sent by his father to check on his brothers, but his brothers saw him coming, and hated him because they were wicked. God had given Joseph visions of the future to share with the family so they would know it was by God’s design when it was fulfilled. The brothers boasted… “Shall you indeed reign over us?” And they hated him yet the more for his dreams” (Genesis 37:8). They betrayed him and sold him, but God raised him up to reign and save the continent.
David was sent by his father to check on his older brothers who were at war, but his brothers were jealous that David had been chosen by God to be the next king after Saul. They slandered him… “We know your pride, and the naughtiness of your heart” (1 Samuel 17:28). But God raised up David to reign, to save Israel from the hand of all their enemies.
Jesus was sent by the Father from Heaven to save us from our sins and gift us with eternal life. But He was hated "without a cause." He came unto His own and His own received Him not." The religious leaders were both wicked and jealous. They crucified Him, saying, “We will not have this man to reign over us” (Luke 19:14). But God raised Him from the dead and told the world to repent – “for He has appointed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness by that Man whom He has pointed out: having furnished proof to all humanity by raising Him from the dead” (Acts 17:31).
Do we truly grasp what is about to take place? Our King is coming - and He will save the world.
