Our Emmanuel

Jesus is eternal. He did not begin to exist at the virgin birth. As Emmanuel, “God with us,” He existed “from before the foundation of the earth.” Before He went to the Cross, He prayed, “I have glorified You on the earth: I have finished the work which You gave Me to do. And now, O Father, glorify Me with Yourself, with the glory I had with You before the world was” – (John 17:4,5).
The testimony of Scripture, the angelic announcement, and the eye-witness accounts of the disciples, stand in stark contrast to the low opinions regarding Jesus today. In our world that has cast Him down to the role of a mere prophet or a good moral teacher, the former atheist C.S. Lewis, after examining the miracles, life, and claims of Jesus, wrote these accurate words… “Either this man was, and is, the Son of God: or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.” – (CS Lewis, Mere Christianity).
The thrill for us, regarding Jesus’ eternal existence, is given in this verse… “Because He lives forever, He has an unchangeable priesthood. Wherefore, He is able to save to the uttermost, those who come to God through Him, seeing He lives forever to intercede for them.” – (Hebrews 7:25). God so loved the world, that He gave us His eternal Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have… Everlasting Life.
And we can be sure of it.
