King David remembers His cry for deliverance from those seeking to kill him… “Make haste, O God, to deliver me; make haste to help me, O Lord. Let them be ashamed and confounded who seek after my soul… But let all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in You: and let those who love your Salvation (Yeshua) say continually, ‘Let God be magnified!’ … Make haste, O God: You are my Help and my Deliverer, O Lord, do not tarry” (Psalm 70).
Later in David’s life, “In the day the Lord delivered [David] from the hand of all his enemies” he wrote a song… I will love you, O Lord, my strength! The Lord is my Rock, and my Fortress, and my Deliverer! … Great deliverances (lit: salvations, plural) He gives!”
The name of Jesus in Hebrew is “Yeshua” which means “Salvation.” God has given us the assurance of “great deliverances” through Christ alone, and it begins at the Cross by faith… “Who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of God our Father” (Galatians 1:4).
The Apostle Paul put it this way, “He delivered us from so great a death (Hell) and continues to deliver us (from daily trials): in whom we trust that He will yet deliver us (from all future evils)” (2 Corinthians 1:10).
No Christian is exempt from sufferings in this life… “All who live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.” But we are promised deliverance and preservation… “And the Lord shall deliver me from evil work and will preserve me to His Heavenly Kingdom. To whom be glory forever and ever. Amen” (2 Timothy 4:18).
From every evil pressing in upon us today, our Deliverer is coming. Hallelujah.
