The first Rapture in the Bible happened in the days before the Flood. Enoch, whose name means “Dedicated,” walked with God, “and he was not, for God took him” (Genesis 5:24).
The Bible tells us why the Lord Raptured him… “By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him. For before his translation he had this testimony: that he pleased God” (Hebrews 11:5).
Enoch lived by faith in faithless days, just as we are. He wrote the first prophecy of Christ’s coming Judgment, and you can hear the fire in his voice… “And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these (ungodly ones), saying, ‘Behold the Lord comes with ten-thousands of His saints, to execute judgment upon all, and convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him” (Jude 1:14,15).
The same words used to describe Enoch’s walk of faith are given to us… “As you have received how you ought to walk and to please God, we intreat you to abound more and more” (1 Thessalonians 4:1). God’s Word supplies us with all we need to know… “Do not be conformed to this world: but continue being transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and well-pleasing, and perfect, will of God” (Romans 12:2).
Like Enoch, God has also given us this sweet assurance: He has… “delivered us from the authority of darkness and translated us into the Kingdom of the Son of His love - in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins” (Colossians 1:12-14).
We’re just awaiting our Transport Home.
