“As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: He is a buckler to all those who trust in Him” (2 Samuel 22:31).
A buckler is a body shield that was used for warfare in hand-to-hand combat. The Bible informs us that God Himself is the Buckler of His people. This individual protection is a great comfort to us in these perilous times… “You have beset me behind and before and cupped Your hand over me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is so high I cannot fully grasp it” (Psalm 139:5,6)
There is a coming day when a Highway of Holiness shall be traveled by all God’s dispersed Jewish children returning home. On that highway, God’s protection is guaranteed… “It shall be called ‘The Way of Holiness.’ The unclean shall not travel on it, but it shall be for these (following Christ). No perverse person shall traverse it, no lion shall be there, nor any ravenous beast shall go up on it or be found there: but the redeemed shall walk there” (Isaiah 35:8,9).
Likewise, there is a guarded holy highway for those who follow Christ today… “He is a buckler to those who walk uprightly. He keeps (guards) the paths of justice and preserves the way of His saints” (Proverbs 2:7,8) … “You are kept (garrisoned) by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time” (1 Peter 1:4).
We can rest in His promise of protection and preservation… “Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me: You shall stretch forth Your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and Your right hand shall save me” (Psalm 138:7).
There is no safer place to be than “In Jesus.”
