A world-wide phenomenon is taking place that is reminiscent of the world in 1938 - the gripping, contagious power of united hatred. The Russian Dagestan airport yesterday was mobbed by Muslims waiting to kill Jews, the young to the old, whose plane had just landed. They were whisked away to safety as they awaited a plane to get them to safety… but where is safety? Moscow, France, Great Britain, America… none of them are safe for Jews. This hate has become deadly.
How is it that the attacked and murdered are blamed for war? This same question was asked regarding Jesus… How is it that the Son of God, who came to His own creation, to heal, restore, renew, and redeem them, was beaten and put to death? This is a spiritual war; a satanically charged logic, that returns evil for good. We’ve seen this evil spirit before…
There is only One love that is strong enough to diffuse this satanic hatred. It glows with the warmth of God’s heart that calls us to Himself. He doesn’t require us to kill another to satisfy Him; He gave His own life in our place. He wants all of our hearts in order that He can mold us and make us more into His likeness. He calls us His own… His children, His friends! He has “plans for our future, not to harm us, but for our good.” Though we still walk on earth, we are members of His kingdom - a kingdom whose foundation is love, holiness, and peace. We don’t feel like we belong in a world bristling with violent division; it goes against our God-given nature. We long to hear His words, “Rise up My love, My fair one, and come away!” This world isn’t our home; Christ is our Home.
At the end of the seven-year tribulation there are millions who come to know Christ as Messiah. There are no ethnic or religious divisions among them… “There before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and carrying palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.” (Revelation 7:10). This great love of God is what the world needs now. Yesterday, a Jewish believer in Israel posted a prayer to his Arab believing friends… “Dear brothers, may God draw us closer to Himself where there is love and not hate, unity and not division, peace and not violence. I pray for your safety! Our only hope for our world, is that they would come to know our God.” His Arab brother responded, “I love you brother! Where the love of Christ is, there, and ONLY there, will be peace. Stay safe, and stay in prayer!”
May we continue to love one another with His perfect love. It unites!
