“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give to them eternal life, and they shall never perish, neither shall anyone pluck them out of My hand. My Father, which gave them to Me, is greater than all, and no one is able to pluck them out of My Father’s hand. I and My Father are one” (John 10:27-30).
As we watch the political fallout around us, these words of Jesus are intended to keep us grounded and without fear. “My sheep hear My voice” not only means that we have His Word, but His powerful Presence. Sheep can’t hear their shepherd’s voice if he’s not in the pasture. Jesus is with us.
Not only does He know our individual circumstances, His loving intention is to guide us in right paths through – and out - of the distresses around us. All the corruption in the world cannot stop His care, hinder His presence, or block His paths for us.
Thirdly, we shall never perish. This is an emphatic statement. We are eternal beings. And no one can pluck us from His hand or His Father’s hand – we are doubly-guarded without, and sealed by His Spirit within, a Three-fold cord that cannot be broken.
From all the troubles in this life, Jesus is our Hiding Place. We can face each day, and rest each night, on the promises of His Presence and preserving-power. We’re under the personal care of 'THE' Good Shepherd. His Word is His gentle Voice of assuring love, and He sings to us over the noise of the crowds, surrounding us with songs of deliverance to still our easily-startled hearts.
Jesus won’t give His sheep to the wolves and the Cross proves it. Rejoice in His marvelous care. He’s guiding us safely Home. Selah.
