Daniel, a Jew, who lived from 620-538 BC, lived a life of exile in Babylon. He loved God with all his heart and honored Him in spite of laws that forbid him to pray. God blessed his life! He was filled with wisdom and honored for his brilliance. Many prophecies of the end times were given to Daniel, and we continue to glean from them great truths regarding the end of days, and the coming war with Israel and her enemies. “At that time Michael, the great prince, the archangel, who stands guard over your nation (Israel), will arise. Then there will be a time of anguish greater than any other, since nations have come into existence. But at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone whose name shall be found written in the book.” (Daniel 12:1) “Archangel” means chief angel. He’s known to lead other angels in battle; his great strength and warrior-like qualities set him apart. In Revelation, we read of a war in the heavens, where the demonic realm fights the angelic realm. “Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon fought against the angels, and prevailed not; neither was their place found anymore in heaven.” (Revelation 12:7-8) He is only quoted as saying four words in the Bible when fighting the Devil over Moses’ body, he states, “The Lord rebuke you!” (Jude 1:9). Why is it important to know about Michael? Because unlike any other nation in the world, Michael is appointed guardian over Israel. He is there as their great defender. “When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.” (Isaiah 59:19) God’s love for Israel is forever! “I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore, I have continued my faithfulness to you.” (Jeremiah 31:3). These verses are needed now as terror leaders keep repeating that Israel will be “completely destroyed, and thrown into the sea,” but the promises of God say otherwise. Where God’s love is, His protection is. Where His promises are, His deliverance is guaranteed. For this reason, He declares two main things - that once they are back in the land they will NEVER again be removed (Amos 9:15), and while they are there, they will never be destroyed. (Malachi 3:6) Praise God for His protective, enduring love! Nothing can destroy it!
