Looking Forward

“Forget the former things; do not dwell in the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” (Isaiah 43:18,19)

In this Scripture, God is talking to the Israelites, who had so many amazing stories of God’s great deliverance that they got stuck in the past. Nothing could seemingly compare with the deliverance out of Egypt, could it? or the return to their homeland after the Babylonian exile. Their “glory years” were behind them and a despondent hopelessness lay before them.

The prophet Isaiah gave them a message from God… “What lies ahead is SO far greater than what has already been, that you need to open your eyes to the goodness of what God is doing now.” A physical deliverance can’t be compared to the deliverance from sin; one is temporal, another eternal. Returning to their own homeland is nothing compared to being made a child of God, through His redemptive work at the cross, and FOREVER dwelling in His presence in Glory.

Friends, we are no different. We tend to look back at the great move of God in our lives and forget that the greater work is now! “He is doing a new thing.” We have been given the privilege to live on the precipice of eternity… voices crying out to the lost at the very gates of hell. These are biblical days. Jesus is near! Prophecy is unfolding before our eyes; millions are coming to Christ around the world, and we need to open our eyes to this moment in time and thank God that we get to be a part of His great story for humanity. Keep looking forward, dear ones; Glory awaits.
