“Who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from all lawlessness, and purify for Himself a unique (rare, highly precious possession of) people, zealous of good works” – (Titus 2:14).
The Lord Jesus begins a refining, purifying, and polishing process, in every Believer at the moment of salvation. The Bible calls you a “living gemstone,” because Jesus is “building His Church,” not with bricks and stones, but with people - living gemstones of flesh and bone… “You are approaching the Living Stone, rejected indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious! You ALSO, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house (temple)…” – (1 Peter 2:4,5).
Jesus is called “The Living Stone,” “The Chief Cornerstone,” and “The Rock,” because He is immoveable in Truth, dependable to build our lives upon, a Refuge from life’s storms. We are being refined, purified, and polished to reveal His strengths and righteous characteristics in and through us… “As each person has received a gift, even so use it to serve others, as good stewards of the multi-faceted grace of God” – (1 Peter 4:10).
Jesus didn’t light up our lives with His goodness to hide us, but to put our lives on display in a dark world, that others might be won to Him too. What a holy purpose is ours each day until He returns… “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works (Christlike), and may glorify your Father which is in Heaven” – (Matthew 5:16).
