Flash floods are different than other floods. Some flooding can happen over hours, but flash floods happen within minutes giving people no time to escape. In Noah’s day, it was so quick that the people “knew not until the flood came and swept them all away” (Matthew 24:39).
It is a flash flood the enemy nations of God’s people are planning from all sides, and this is why the Lord tells everyone to be ready. For, “When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him. And the Redeemer shall come…” (Isaiah 59:19).
Never before have things been so aligned for this moment. Not only did Jesus tell us to live “ready,” but the words used of His appearing are: “suddenly… in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye… as lightning flashes across the sky.”
Although Jesus will appear suddenly, we will not disappear suddenly. “Every eye” will have time to see graves open, the dead in Christ rise first, then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them, to meet the Lord in the air.
Revelation begins with these words… “The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave to Him, to show to His servants things which must shortly (quickly/speedily) come to pass.” And it ends with this triple promise… “Behold, I come quickly (speedily/suddenly): blessed is the one who keeps the sayings of the prophecy of this book… behold, I come quickly: and My reward is with Me, to give each person according as their work shall be… “Surely, I come quickly.”
We have such a message of hope for our world in Jesus Christ. May it be our greatest purpose today to share the Good News of salvation while we can.
