“From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the Lord’s name is to be praised.” (Psalm 113:3).
Praise means, “to shine forth; to boast; to be clear; to celebrate.” Praise is a personal choice to “be clear” about the joy of our salvation, and our confidence in Christ; it is to “shine forth” our faith and love, beyond our day, our trials, and the world’s evils, to boast in the victories and power of our Lord through the Cross – past, present, and future.
Praise is holy and beautiful. Sometimes its costly, a sacrifice through tears, to the One who will one day wipe them away. We are to “Praise with understanding” for we stand on Rock-solid truth, in sunshine and in rain. When we step out of bed, we delight to remember this day is a “day of salvation” for someone. When we first look outside, we rest in the sweet knowledge that His mercies are new every morning. When we grab our coffee and our Bible, we rejoice that “His truth endures to all generations.”
When we step out the door to work, we remember that there is only one life which will soon be past, and only what’s done for Christ will last. We praise Him by serving with Christ-like attitudes, in our work ethic, with singleness of heart, no matter the workplace.
Through the day, He is our Constant Companion, and at the end of the day we praise Him for His faithfulness, provisions, and safety, saying… “O Lord, You have made me glad through Your work: I will triumph in the works of Your hands! O Lord, how great are Your works!”
And we rest in the joy that He is at work, we are His people, and the best is yet to come. O, Praise ye the Lord.
