Just Wait A Bit More

Poem by Cheryl Hall-Laos

Oh the grief that tore their heart strings

Jesus had been crucified!

Hung upon the rugged cross for our sins to die.

There was no rush of blazen angels to rescue Him from death;

For His suffering and sorrow was the whole purpose, from His beginning to end.

Now His body has been laid to rest In a borrowed rich man’s grave.

For He didn’t need a permanent home for a mere three day stay.

His disciples wept such broken tears

Their hearts were confused and torn.

But His gentle words stirred within their souls,

‘In three days I will rise!’

So they anointed His body

They prayed while they cried

They took comfort in each other and then they stepped aside.

They waited…

And waited…

while His words whispered softly…

And early Sunday morning

Two angels appeared!

Their garments like lightning

And their message was clear!

‘He is not here

He has risen as He said.

Come, see the place where He lay.’

Death had been conquered

The veil ripped in two

Our mortality shattered By the One who is True.

We now live with purpose

Hope and love, forever more

Death is defeated;

And unto Him we live for.

Wait, dear ones

Just wait a little bit more…

For soon He will come as He faithfully did before.

Keep your lamps filled with oil

Your hearts looking Above

For next is His Coming

To take us to His Home of perfect Love.
