Have you ever looked at this world and in grief thought to yourself, “This is what it looks like to live life without God.” And then thankfulness fills your soul for all that you have in Christ. Who can do life without Him?! Those that stumble along in darkness are who Jesus came for, not those that are in the light… “The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in the land of deep darkness, in them has light shone.” (Isaiah 9:2)
When Jesus was born as a babe in a manger, it was a light that guided the wise men to Him. A heavenly light, a star unlike any other star ever seen, and it drew men to Himself. His light of Truth still does the same today.
Jesus, now a grown man and in His ministry, made it crystal clear to His hearers, that this Light that would shine in the darkness, prophesied by Isaiah about 800 years before Christ came, was indeed Him! “When Jesus spoke again to the people, He said, ‘I AM the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have THE light of life’” (John 8:12). Could He have been more clear?
Jesus is our Light, our illumination, into what is Truth. He came to bring joy to the mournful; to satisfy the one that hungers for righteousness, and to show mercy to the merciful. In Him, are found all the answers that trouble our souls. He is our Light in the darkness that leads us onward… one step at a time… seeing and understanding all He wants us to know… always moving forward toward Him, toward Home.
“Star of wonder, star of light, star with royal beauty bright, westward leading, still proceeding, guide us to Thy Perfect Light.”
