Praying on behalf of another, is to intercede in prayer. It’s one thing for us to come to the foot of the cross carrying our own heavy burdens, but to bring another’s is a precious act of Christ-like love.
How will the rest of this year unfold? We are all in agreement that we have no idea what evil will transpire, but we can be sure of this one thing - “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” (James 5:16)
Prayer can change everything. It’s been stated repeatedly, over the centuries, that prayer is our most powerful weapon but our least utilized. That needs to change. Especially now.
Our world, our countries, our cities and towns, and our family units, they all need prayer-specific prayer! The early church knew this to be true. The Apostle Paul wrote to the new believers in Thessaloniki to “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
Jesus told Peter that He prayed for him that his faith wouldn’t fail. Isn’t it a precious thought to know that Jesus intercedes on behalf of us? In fact, His Spirit interprets our tears and groanings of the heart and presents them to God in perfect wording.... “Likewise, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.” (Romans 8:26)
Dear friends, everything is changing. The world we knew has changed. But one thing that is unchanging is that God still answers prayer. And many times, He answers when there’s no other possible way forward but a Divine deliverance. If our backs are up against the raging sea, it’s a great time to get on our knees. He still hears and delivers.
