Holy Conversations

Devotional by Lisa Cataford

The Bible records many conversations between the Father and the Son… “To the Son, He (God the Father) says, ‘Your throne, O God, is for ever and ever; a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your Kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; therefore God, Your God, has anointed You with the oil of gladness above Your fellows” (Hebrews 1:8,9).

This record of Their conversation is also found in Psalm 45 which describes the return of Christ… “Gird Your sword upon Your thigh, O Most Mighty, with Your glory and Your majesty. And in Your majesty ride prosperously because of truth, meekness, and righteousness” (Psalm 45:3,4).

The Cross, which proved God’s love for righteousness and His hatred for wickedness, was His invitation to sinners to be forgiven and made righteous, to share Christ’s coming reign.  And after 2000 years of grace offered to mankind, Christ will return to defend truth, put down the arrogance of men, and bring in everlasting righteousness. Doesn’t that thrill our weary hearts?

If God recorded the holy conversations of Heaven to encourage us in dark times, He is also recording holy conversations of faith found here on earth… “Then they that feared the Lord spoke often one to another: and the Lord listened, and heard, and a Book of Remembrance was written before Him for those who feared the Lord, and who thought upon His name” (Malachi 3:16).

Just as we’re watching the appointment of people who were faithful to truth in days of deception now appointed to positions of power in the new US administration, Jesus encourages His Church with this holy promise… “He that overcomes and keeps My works (and words) to the end, to him will I give power over the nations… even as I received of My Father” (Revelation 2:26).

Oh, the joys that await!
