“You are my Inheritance, O Lord: I have said that I will keep Your words” – (Psalm 119:57).
David wrote these words while he was being robbed of everything rightfully his. He wrote: “The bands of the wicked have robbed me, but I have not forgotten Your Law.” From his reputation to his home and country, right down to his wife and family, the enemy tried to rob him of everything to thwart his coming reign. But God had already declared David would be the next king. So David clung to God’s Word, his Inheritance Papers, and awaited God’s timing.
The Devil tried this same robbery when he tempted Jesus… “All these kingdoms will I give you, if you fall down and worship me.” But the Kingdoms of earth weren’t the Devil’s to give. They already belonged to Jesus by inheritance as the Son. Satan was not trying to give them - he was trying to rob Jesus of what was rightfully His. But the Father had already declared Christ Lord and King. Jesus was only awaiting His time.
We too are being robbed of our rights and freedoms, but God has given us an inheritance in Christ that nothing and no one can take away. We are told to guard our Inheritance Papers diligently… “Beware, lest anyone rob you through philosophy (the world’s wisdom) and vain deceit (empty teachings), after the tradition of men, after the rudiments (principles) of the world, and not after Christ. For in Him dwells all the fulness of the Godhead (Trinity) bodily. And you are complete in Him…” – (Colossians 2:8-10).
“Progressive” teachings have entered the churches. They offer “more” while robbing people of their riches in Christ. They are crafty lies, made to look reasonable, pleasing, and lofty – while being regressive, damaging, and empty – like the man who offered the little girl a shiny poker chip for her ten-dollar bill. Being shiny, she thought she had more than mere paper.
Cling to God’s Word. Add nothing. Subtract nothing and await God’s timing. Our future is secure because… “He who spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?” (Romans 8:32)
