His Throne

Devotional by Lisa Cataford

“And immediately I was in the spirit: and behold, a Throne was set in Heaven, and One sat on the Throne. And He that sat was to look upon like a Diamond and a Sardius stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like an emerald.” – Revelation 4:2,3

This is the first view every Believer sees the moment they leave this earth, for, “to be absent from the body is to be immediately present with the Lord.” This is the same Throne of Glory and Throne of Grace we’ve approached boldly, millions of times, in Jesus’ name.  Here is the rainbow of grace that says, “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Jesus.” There is no fear here, only sweet reverence, awe, fullness of joy, and pleasures for evermore. It’s Home.

Seeing God on His Throne will make us wonder why we worried so much at those seated on lesser thrones here below. This is why the Lord tells us to “Set your mind on things Above, not on things of the earth.” Here is the true Supreme Court to which we appeal, and from which perfect justice shall soon be meted out upon the earth.

Jesus, the Judge Himself, walked among us, saying, “God did not send His Son into the world to condemn that world, but that the world through Him might be saved” (John 3:17). His first visit was not to Judge but to rescue from sin’s penalty before He returns on Judgment Day.

What a stunning reality. The Judge came to earth to die for sinners. Then arose to His Throne, patiently waiting until all are offered Pardon. His Throne ensures our glorious future by His side and evil’s expiry date.

Fix your heart on Him.
