People can spend an entire life looking for real love, but Real Love visited us, and taught us what It looks like, what It feels like, and how we are to reflect It. “This is real love - not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be our sacrifice - to take away our sins.” (1 John 4:10)
The wonder of Christmas isn’t just that Jesus came, but that He came in the greatest act of love - to die for our sins. “Greater love has no one than this; than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” (John 15:13)
This old hymn chorus encapsulates this great Love...
“Heaven came down and glory filled my soul,
There at the cross My Savior made me whole,
My sins were washed away,
And my night was turned to day,
Heaven came down and glory filled my soul.”
Dear ones, this world may be filled with strife and heartache, but let’s sit in wonder at the edge of the manger and let this great Gift of love fill our hearts. Only Jesus loves enough to leave the splendor of Heaven for us...
Only Jesus loves enough to let His own creation crucify Him, in order to make a way for them to Heaven...
Only Jesus would love those that were at enmity with Him...
Only Jesus would rise on the third day, to continue to love and seek the lost...
And, only Jesus would continue to guide and protect us through this life, because His love is unfailing, unchanging, and dependable.
Only Jesus, in His perfect love, was able to redeem us unto Himself. His Love not only pursues our hearts, but holds them safe in His care, and will bring us to the Home He has prepared for us. What a Gift we’ve been given! God’s infinite Love.
